Continental extends in-flight entertainment options
Continental Airline have extended their in-flight entertainment (Audio Video On Demand) options to their economy class cabins on all flights from Dublin and Shannon to Newark Liberty International Airport.
Audio Video On Demand (AVOD) is an enhanced in-flight entertainment system offering individual seatback video screens offering up to 40 movies, 50 TV programmes and 2,000 audio tracks. Customers can what they want, when they want throughout the flight. The new entertainment system also has 20 video games and a programme which teaches foreign languages,c alled the Berlitz World Traveller programme. Continential is the only airline offering this service and all its transatlantic flights to and from Ireland.
BA announce services to the Maldives and Egypt from Gatwick
BA has announced the introduction of new trice-weekly direct services services to the Maldives (Male)and Egypt (Sharm El Sheikh) from Gatwick Airport from 25 October 2009. The routes will be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft with a three-class configuration – World Traveller, World Traveller Plus and Club World.
This is the first time BA is offering flights to the Maldives but will be a return to the Eqypt route. Other changes include the cessation of the London Gatwick to New York flight from 25th October. BA operate up to 10 flights daily to New York and have also announced the launch of a London City – New York service later in 2009.
Aer Lingus introduce lie flat sleeper beds on business class cabins
Aer Lingus has announced the introduction of lie flat sleeper beds on business class cabins on flights to and from the USA. Each seat is equipped with power points to facilitate the us of lap-tops and also offers an on-demand in flight entertainment system with movies, TV, music and games. This means you can now arrive at you destination well rested, alert and ready for those important meetings.
New terminal at Abu Dhabi
Etihad Airways flies daily from Dublin to Bancock via their hub at Abu Dhabi. The flight now arrives and departs in the new spacious and passenger friendly Terminal 3 at Abu Dhabi.
